Grief & Loss

I have done a number of years work and study in this area of counselling. Loss is often at the heart of our experiences in life. Sometimes it is a choice we have made, leaving an old job for a new position, or moving to a different city. Other times there are the more obvious experiences of loss, a Loved one, Pet, Relationship, etc. No matter the Loss, Grief has its own special ways of showing up. Understanding this and learning not to fear grief can be helpful in moving through the many seasons that follow.

Stress & Anxiety

Ahh Stress, and anxiety! It affects us all and it is all around us. How do we understand the role that stress plays in our life? How do we use stress to motivate us or get the job done? and how do we get it under control when it is taking over our body and mind and freezing us into inaction? In session we can explore where this Stress is coming from, what outcomes it is having in our day to day, and make meaningful changes to take back control and reduce the Flight, Fight, Freeze response that results from stress. I have a wealth of techniques that we can try and when we find the right ones for you we can start to get the anxiety monster back in its cave.

Change & Aging

Change shows up in all sorts of ways throughout life. This is wonderful, this is living! However Change can feel really scary sometimes too. Change can bring with it Stress, Anxiety, Grief and Loss. Change can feel too big, and sometimes not big enough. Often change is associated with Developmental changes in our lives, Growing up, Aging, Parenthood, Perimenopause, Menopause, Empty nesting, Aging parents, Aging partners, all big moments in life which have impacts on the way we see ourselves and the relationships around us. As with all therapy talking things out in a safe and respectful environment can give you space to understand what it is you are experiencing, and sometimes, with a fresh perspective, the fear associated with change can reduce.

Relationships

Marriage, Partnerships, Friendships, they are such a big part of our lives. How we show up in these relationships and how these relationships affect us can be wonderful and supportive, can be difficult and stressful at times, communication can break down, communication may never have really been solid in the first place, and infidelity or a break in trust can feel like a deal breaker. Couple counselling or Individual counselling about a relationships can be very useful to help understand what is affecting the relationship and what can be done about it.
